2020 Street Construction Updates as of 9/28/20
The majority of the work has been completed. Final site concrete and roadway asphalt has been placed. Contractor will be on site this week performing some inside manhole restoration work but this shouldn’t affect traffic/general public very much. Final approval/walk-through TBD.
Athens (Bunts – Brown): All curbs/aprons/sidewalk replacement work completed, including restoration (except seeding). All casting adjustments have been made by Shelly. Final surface course of asphalt was placed on Wednesday, September 16th. New colored/stamped crosswalks will be installed at Richland, N & S sides of the intersection, in the next week or so. Traffic Loop detectors installed by TraffTech on each side of Bunts.
Bayes (Brown – Warren): New curbs/aprons/sidewalk replacement work completed and final restoration work completed, excluding seeding. Final surface course of asphalt was placed on Wednesday, September 16th. No Planned Crosswalk work (other than re-striping).
Delaware (Alger – Arthur): Curb/apron/sidewalk replacement work has been completed. Site restoration work completed, excluding seeding. Final surface course of asphalt was placed on Thursday, September 17th. New colored/stamped crosswalk to be installed across Delaware (W. side of Alger) and on the N & S sides of Delaware (across Arthur), in the next couple weeks.
McKinley (Riverside – S. Marginal): All curbs/aprons/sidewalk/ramps have been completed. Final surface course of asphalt placed Thursday, September 17th. Traffic Loop Detector installed by TraffTech at the south end of McKinley (just north of Riverside) .
Daleview (McKinley – Riverside): All curbs/aprons/sidewalk/ramps have been completed. Final surface course of asphalt was placed on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. New colored/stamped crosswalk will be installed at east end (west side of the McKinley intersection) in the next week or so.
Wagar (Detroit – Madison): Curbs/aprons/sidewalk/ramps were completed. Site restoration work on-going. Shelly relocated/installed new CB at 1531 Wagar this past week and the final surface course of asphalt was placed on Wednesday, September 23rd. New colored/stamped crosswalks to be installed on the north and south ends of Wagar in the next week or so.
Forest Cliff: Curbs/aprons/sidewalks have been marked out for replacement and concrete work was begun on Thursday, September 24th. Surface asphalt to be placed in next week or so.
Parkside: Curbs/aprons/sidewalk have been marked out for replacement and concrete work was completed this past week. Restoration and surface asphalt to be completed in next couple of weeks.
Ridgewood: Curbs/aprons/sidewalk needing replacement will be marked on Monday, September 28th. Allega to start in the of the week. Surface asphalt to be placed in a couple of weeks (after concrete work).
Lake Ave (Cove and Lake intersection): TraffTech provided authorization to begin the re-sequencing work of the traffic signals at this intersection.
Condensed Summary of the 2020 Resurfacing Summary
All asphalt has been placed on Athens, Bayes, Delaware, Daleview, McKinley, and Wagar. Final surface course of asphalt yet to be placed on Forest Cliff, Parkside, and Ridgewood (this will occur in the next 1-2 weeks), Notifications on street barrels/cones will be updated at least 24 hours prior to paving.
Concrete replacement work has been completed for all streets except Forest Cliff and Ridgewood (this will occur in the next 1-2 weeks, shortly followed up by the surface asphalt placement).
New colored/stamped Crosswalks will be placed at the following locations over the next few weeks;
- Athens – Across Richland (north and south sides),
- Daleview – West side of the McKinley intersection,
- Delaware – West side of the Alger intersection, and across Mars (north side of Delaware), and across Arthur (north and south sides of Delaware),
- Ridgewood – North side of Franklin intersection and south side of the Detroit intersection,
- Wagar – North side of Madison intersection and south side of the Detroit intersection.
Lake and Cove Intersection – Contractor authorized to begin upgrades and re-phasing of the traffic signals (may take a couple weeks to complete), once this is done the traffic barrels can then be removed.
