Statement on Public Safety from Mayor George

The protests across the United States over the weekend turned violent in many areas. As we monitored those developments over the course of last week, I worked with Police Chief Malley and the Lakewood Police Department as we prepared our team. As Safety Director, my top priority is the safety of our community and I spent much of Saturday and Sunday at the police station, monitoring the developing situation as we coordinated with the Westshore Enforcement Bureau. Our team was deployed to Cleveland to provide the support to the Cleveland Police and we had additional officers in Lakewood on patrol. Lakewood Police were ready, and are still prepared, to respond to any disturbances should they arise.
