Pet Owners should be vigilant about not leaving pets outside unattended
October 24, 2017On October 21, 2017 at approximately 8:35 am, the Lakewood Police Department’s Animal Control Unit responded to 1079 Forest Cliff Dr. on the report that the resident’s dog had been attacked and killed by a coyote.
Investigation revealed that the dog, a female Highland Terrier was outside of the home in the back yard between the hours of 11:00 pm and 7:00 am when the attack occurred.
The Lakewood Police Department is continuing to investigate, including several other sightings in areas of the city near Lake Erie. We are undertaking steps to identify the location of the coyote. Pet owners are encouraged to be vigilant with respect to leaving their pets unattended outside.
