Lakewood Seeks Applicants for New Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Task Force

October 08, 2020

The City of Lakewood has systemically implemented upgrades to ensure ADA compliance, but is required to establish an ADA Transition Plan to formally establish rules and standards to be effectuated citywide. In order to ensure that the City meets the highest needs of its residents and visitors with disabilities, the City created an Americans with Disabilities Task Force to establish a formal ADA Transition Plan. The mission of the Task Force will be to enact a citywide plan to oversee the upgrade and compliance of city properties and facilities and to identify properties, buildings, and facilities that require upgrades to become ADA compliant.

The City is seeking resident participation to help identify necessary physical infrastructure and technology upgrades, assist in the development of the ADA Transition Plan, and above all work to ensure that citizens with disabilities have accessibility and are included in the City’s community life.

The City is seeking to fill (7) positions who share a passion for the mission of the task force and have an interest in serving our community. These individuals should possess knowledge and or experience as it pertains to ADA regulations and standards, public safety, community engagement and advocacy.

Interested applicants should submit their application to mayor@lakewoodoh.net by Friday, November 6, 2020.   Click here for the application form.  Please include your resume and cover letter.
