Lakewood Hosting a Second Suicide Prevention Training SessionMarch 11, 2016
Get trained. Save a life.
The first suicide prevention training earlier this year was such a success — and the demand was so high — that the Lakewood Area Collaborative is hosting a second one.
The “QPR” training will show residents how to recognize a crisis and warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. The free event is slated to take place at the Woman’s Pavilion at Lakewood Park from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20.
The free training session will highlight a technique called Question, Persuade, Refer. The goal of the QPR is to prevent suicide deaths in Cuyahoga County, and reduce stigma associated with mental illness. Residents will also learn how to:
- Recognize the warning signs
- Offer hope
- Help save a live with community resources.
