Lakewood Fire Department: Change Your Clock, Change Your Smoke AlarmNovember 02, 2016
The Fire Prevention Bureau of the Lakewood Fire Department is reminding residents to change smoke alarm batteries when they change their clocks back from Daylight Savings Time, before going to bed Saturday night, Nov. 5.
“The facts show it: working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a fire in half,” said Lakewood Fire Marshal Tim Dunphy. “Take time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms, testing your smoke alarms, and take a minute or two to make sure the batteries aren’t missing or disconnected.”
“Being prepared and knowing what to do if a fire occurs in your home, can save your life and the lives of your loved ones.”
The Fire Department in conjunction with the Department of Human Services offers a program to change/install smoke detectors for Lakewood’s senior citizens.
