Services commonly referred to as "welfare" are provided by the Cuyahoga County Department of Health & Human Services, Employment & Family Services through Neighborhood Family Service Centers.  The City of Lakewood, Department of Human Services, consists of four divisions, Aging, Early Childhood, Health and Youth. The Department office houses the Director and an Administrative Assistant who provide programmatic support and administrative oversight to the divisions. The Director of the Department of Human Services is one of the Mayor's cabinet level appointees and is responsible for the provision of human services to Lakewood's residents.

We rely on monetary donations to support programs and services provided to the Lakewood community and welcome monetary donations at any time through The Lakewood Foundation. Other donations may be considered based upon appropriateness. We do not have space to store items to have "on hand". Please contact the Department of Human Services at (216) 529-6685 or via e-mail to determine appropriateness of donation. Seasonally, we may accept clothing items for our annual H2O Clothing Sale in August and Christmas gifts for our annual Adopt-A-Family Holiday program in December.
