Firefighter Recognition Ceremony Set For October 6th
September 27, 2019The Lakewood Fire Department will host its annual Firefighter Recognition Ceremony on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 12:00 PM at Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison Avenue. Join Mayor Summers, the Lakewood Fire Department and community leaders as they honor firefighters we have lost, new firefighters who have join the Lakewood Fire Department as well as firefighters who have retired or have been promoted over the last year. New Fire Chief Tim Dunphy will officially be sworn-in at this ceremony.
All on-duty fire personnel will gather with fire apparatus at the site of the Firefighter’s Memorial in front of the station for the ceremony.
This event kicks off National Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!” works to educate everyone about the small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.
Members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend the event.
Following the ceremony, there will be an fire station open house, including a tour of the Fire Museum.
