Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Lakewood Arts Festival Will Not Be Held This Year

June 17, 2020

It is with regret that the Lakewood Arts Festival Board of Trustees and the City of Lakewood announce that the 43rd Annual Lakewood Arts Festival, scheduled for August 1, 2020, will not be held this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Trustees of the Lakewood Arts Festival Board did not make this decision lightly, but out of thoughtful care and concern. An event as large as the Lakewood Arts Festival would present a safety risk to the artists, volunteers, patrons and attendees that are the fabric of the show.

After extensive discussion and deliberation, the Festival committee concluded in coordination with state, county and city authorities, that given the current public safety guidelines the Arts Festival must be cancelled.

The Lakewood Arts Festival Board is incredibly proud of the show that we had planned to present this season, and in the spirit of highlighting the 2020 exhibiting artist roster – we will be offering an opportunity to view the artists and their social media handles/contact on our website. The Lakewood Arts Festival Board encourages you to take this opportunity to support the artists as you do year after year at the Festival.

With an ongoing commitment to supporting the future of the arts in our community, the Lakewood Arts Festival Board will continue to grant scholarship funds to students who have chosen to pursue further education in the arts. This year, The Lakewood Arts Festival Board has granted [1] $4,000 scholarship, and [2] additional $1,000 scholarships.

The Festival Board is grateful to the artists, musicians, community groups, vendors and volunteers that take part in the festival. We are looking forward to the First Saturday in August in 2021, when we can gather to celebrate the beauty of the arts, the joy of creativity and the spirit of community that is signature to the show.
