City of Lakewood Hosting Entry Level Firefighter Exam

The Lakewood Civil Service Commission will be conducting an examination for Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 6:15 p.m. at Garfield Middle School, 13114 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio.

The first 150 properly completed and legible applications for examination along with a fee of $30.00 will be accepted. Applications will be available at City Hall starting Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the Department of Law, Office of Civil Service or on the City website at www.onelakewood.com beginning Saturday, September 17, 2016. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, October 4, 2016.

Must provide copies of High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, a current Ohio Paramedic Certificate or Basic EMT Certificate and provide proof of enrollment in Ohio Paramedic classes (letter from school). At the time of appointment, you must file a current Certificate of Agility with the Chief of Fire. To be placed on the eligible list candidates must score 70 or higher on the written exam. For those candidates that do not possess a current Certificate of Agility, contact Cuyahoga Community College at 216-987-5076. The next physical agility exam is due to be held on September 25, 2016. Deadline to register for the physical agility examination is the Wednesday prior to the test date. There will be NO review of the exam.

Salary: $49,431.07 current annual salary plus benefits.
