REFUSE AND RECYCLING
The city of Lakewood is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Refuse Driver in the Division of Refuse and Recycling with the Department of Public Works. We currently have two (2) full-time vacancies. Qualified candidates must have the knowledge and ability to operate a packer truck, automated and semi-automated trucks, recycling truck and cushman; must have the ability to work alone as a collector of recyclables; must have the ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) frequently throughout the course of the workday; must have the ability to complete the daily assignment in a timely manner; must have good oral and written communication skills; must possess the ability to get in and out of a vehicle frequently throughout the workday; must have the ability to work in extreme weather conditions; must have full use of arms and hands; must have the ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance; must have the knowledge of safe work practices; must have the ability to work with garbage and pungent odors throughout the workday.
- Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.
- Must have a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with less than eight (8) points.
- May be required to participate in testing at the discretion of the City.
- Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination and police background investigation including drug screen.
These are union positions and employees may be required to work overtime pursuant to the provisions of Article 5 and Article 15 of the current negotiated agreement. Applicants may be reassigned as required.
Hourly Wage: $23.57/hour start
Normal Work Hours: 6:30 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. (M-F)
