The Health & Human Services Committee addresses a range of issues focused on the health and well-being of the citizens of Lakewood, particularly its youth and seniors, along with Lakewood’s overall community health and wellness.  Annually, the Committee reviews the City’s contract for health services with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health and hears updates from the City’s Health and Human Service Director. In 2019 the Committee took leadership to recommend regulations on  food trucks operating in the City and to increase the age from 18 to 21 for the sale of tobacco and nicotine products. The Committee has also been convening a variety of public health entities and city departments with the goal of eliminating lead exposure and poisoning among children.

The Committee meets on Monday evenings on an as-needed basis in the East Conference Room at City Hall with active participation from the City’s Human Services Director along with other members of the administration.
