The city of Lakewood is currently hiring for a part-time Groundskeeper in our Department of Public Works, Division of Parks and Public Properties. This position will work up to 29 hours per week. Hours are variable and will include evenings. Rate of pay is $22.85 – $24.08 with a $.95/hour shift premium when applicable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must possess the ability to work on your own with little or no supervision; must possess good communication skills; must be able to deal with the public in a professional manner; must have the ability to communicate clearly by telephone and radio; must be willing and able to learn all facets of the operations of the Division of Parks; must have the ability to lift 90 lbs. from floor to shoulder on a daily basis; must have the ability to perform strenuous labor; must be able to work from ladders; must be able to stand for long periods of time; must have adequate arm, wrist, hand and finger strength to perform frequent gripping and carrying of heavy objects; must have good cleaning skills for restrooms and Woman’s Club Pavilion; must have the ability to work in all weather conditions; must be able to plow snow; must have the ability to drive all types of trucks and other equipment; must have the ability to create and maintain landscaping and bio-swales; must have the ability to use weedeaters, blowers, push mowers, etc.; requires basic computer skills for looking up schedules, timekeeping and e-mail.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License with less than eight (8) points.
- Good work and attendance record.
- Must satisfactorily complete a drug screen and police background investigation with fingerprinting.
- May be required to participate in testing at the discretion of the City.
