Assistant Director Human Services – Aging and Family Support Department of Human Services

The City of Lakewood is seeking a full time Assistant Director in the Department of Human Services.  This position assists the department director in managing all staff and department functions, including long and short range planning, budget development and staff management of the divisions of Aging and Family Support (Youth and Early Childhood programs).  Examples of department functions include: overseeing the development and implementation of various programs; developing and implementing policies and procedures; coordinating and securing grants, contracts, etc.; and overseeing fiscal operations. Carries out supervisory/managerial responsibility; addressing complaints and resolving problems and monitoring all direct service and community outreach services.  Coordinates Human Services social work operations, which include: reviewing and assigning cases, coordinating crisis interventions, maintaining and distributing funds, preparing billing information, monitoring community outreach programs, and identifying resources. Oversees the comprehensive programs and services of the department, including: managing facilities/physical plants; maintaining various inventories; identifying resources; developing, monitoring and evaluating programs; reviewing all changes at the state and local level that would affect programs; compiling and submitting reports; and identifying program trends. Develops new programs, writes grants, assures program compliance with regulations and maintains related records. Coordinates and secures grants, contracts, letters of agreement and other related information, including: researching, writing and submitting grant requests; coordinating and monitoring contracts and agreements with other organizations; and identifying and implementing changes in requirements for compliance.  Salary range: $60,022.03 – $84,704.92


Education and Experience:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in related field; and,

Minimum of four to five years of progressively responsible related experience; or,

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses and Certifications:

Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) required; LISW-S preferred.
