Division of Refuse and Recycling

Business Information

The City of Lakewood Division of Refuse and Recycling provides weekly automated trash collection to businesses and other non-residential properties that contract with the City for collection according to the City's collection schedule. The Division is now able to accept registration and payment online. The Small Business Refuse Collection Registration Form provides contract timeframes, pricing, and payment options. The Lakewood Division of Refuse and Recycling provides curbside collection of recyclables on the regular collection day at no charge.  Properties receiving municipal solid waste collection services in the City must separate all recyclable materials from other refuse and package in accordance with Division Regulations.  Recycling can dramatically reduce refuse disposal costs. The following guidelines apply for City-provided business and non-residential collection services: 

  • Setout refuse and recycling between 6:00 p.m. the night before collection and 6:30 a.m. on the regular collection day.  Click here for holiday collection schedule.
  • Refuse carts must be accessible to automated collection:
    • Place cart at curb where cars cannot legally park.
    • Place carts so lid opening and serial number face street.
  • Refuse collection is limited to the amount of trash that fits in the cart or carts.  Additional bags and other bulk debris are not collected but may be dropped-off at Lakewood’s Drop-Off Facility
  • Limit weight of cart to 300-pounds.
  • Store carts at the rear of building until collection day.
  • Remove emptied carts the same day as collection.
  • Misuse and/or defacing of City-owned carts are prohibited.
