Foster Care
"Every Child needs a Home"
Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family services embraces the Philosophy that children grow better in families . They support this notion by partnering with Neighborhood collaborative to attempt to keep kids in their own neighborhood, while assuring that children at risk of abuse or neglect are protected and nurtured within a family and with support of the community.
OPEN YOUR HOME, OPEN YOUR HEART
Become a FOSTER/ADOPTIVE FAMILY
- Foster care provides a stable, loving and structured home to meet the child's or children's physical, mental and emotional needs
- The primary goal of foster care is family reunification. If this is not possible then an alternative permanent plan is developed. Foster parents have the responsibility of being part of the team helping children and their parents achieve this goal.
- Foster parenting then is not a lifetime commitment to the child/adolescent, but a commitment to be meaningful to a child's lifetime. Relatives can be licensed foster parents.
For information on becoming a Foster or Adoptive Parent contact the Division of Youth at (216) 529-6870 and we will help you get connected. We can consult with you over the phone or meet with you at our office or your home to discuss the process of fostering or adopting.
