The 2012 Citizen Police Academy is now full. Registrations are no longer being taken for this class.
The 2012 Lakewood Citizens Police Academy will be held on Wednesdays from February 1 through April 18. The Academy will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Lakewood Police Department on each Wednesday.
The Citizens Police Academy is a 12-week course for Lakewood residents or people who work in Lakewood, 21 years of age or older, who are interested in learning more about the Division of Police. Classes are held once a week for 2 hours. There is no fee to attend. During the sessions, students are presented with information from a number of speakers to familiarize them with a variety of policing issues in Lakewood. In addition to speakers from the Division of Police, the Department of Law and Judge Carroll also address the class. At the end of each session the graduates are permitted to schedule a ride-along with a patrol officer for one evening.

- $36,052 ($41,132 married filing jointly) with 1 qualifying child;
- $13,660 ($18,740 married filing jointly) with no qualifying children
Clinics will be held at the Lakewood Public Library on Janaury 28, February 4, 11, 18, 25, March 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Appointments times on these dates will be 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM.

On February 29, 2012, at 7:00 pm, the Lakewood Block Club Association will hold an informational meeting for Lakewood residents interested in learning about Block Clubs and their value to your street. The meeting will be held in the Lakewood City Hall Auditorium, 12650 Detroit Avenue. Ward Police Officers will also be there to discuss safety issues and answer questions.
