City of Lakewood 2021 Summer Events Update
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the City of Lakewood has thoroughly reviewed early summer events. An events team has been meeting since the beginning of the year and put a tremendous amount of effort into evaluating if these events can be held safely, balancing the community’s traditions and culture with public health requirements and guidelines. After reviewing the most recent guidance and recommendations from the CDC and the Ohio Department of Health, the city is pleased to announce that there will be some summer events held this year. However, the larger events, where social distancing is not feasible, unfortunately, will not take place.
Below is a list of events and details of modification or cancelation, where applicable:
Meet the Trucks – Meet the Trucks will not be held the first Saturday in June due to the required social distancing guidelines. But LECPTA and the city are considering a fall date if the event can be done safely.
Summer Solstice – The Summer Solstice Celebration will not be held this year due to the large crowds this event draws making required social distancing difficult.
Independence Day – Fireworks are planned. No parade or concert will be held this year due to required social distancing guidelines.
Friday Night Flicks – Five movies will be shown this summer using social distancing circles. More information on dates and movies to be shown will be announced soon.
Concerts in the Park – No summer concerts will be scheduled. Unfortunately, ensuring required social distancing during these events is not possible.
Events that are usually scheduled to take place in late summer, including the Lakewood Arts Festival and the Lakewood Community Festival, are still currently being evaluated. All decisions regarding these events will be based upon the latest health and safety regulations. Further announcements are forthcoming.
